Reiki is a method of hands on healing.  Its origins come from Japan.  "Rei" means the flow of universal wisdom, and "Ki" means energy, therefore, Reiki is spiritually guided energy.  Reiki differs from some forms of energy healing in that a Reiki master "attunes" the student to Reiki energies, allowing the energies to be channelled through the individual, it does not utilize the healers personal energy.  The Reiki attunement is comparable to the healer being a radio and switching from a am frequency to a fm frequency, the healer is "tuned in " to a higher frequency.  Reiki heals by flowing through the body and causing the negative energies to break apart.  Reiki  energy cleanses or purifies.

Reiki classes are divided into 3 levels.  Reiki 1 is a first level attunement,which enables the healer to work on the physical body, and learn the history and basics of Reiki.  Reiki 11 focuses on emotional and long distance healing, and the Reiki 111 attunement is the Master/Teacher degree.  It is for the serious student who is on the path to become a healer, the attunement and class focuses on the spiritual body and healing.
